Act 1, Scene 4 Summary
Out on the porch, Joshua stands alone and still for a long moment, until Edward runs out and asks Joshua to tell him a story. Joshua tells him a legend of his people about the creation of the world, but then tells him it's a bad story and that the true creation happened the way it says in the Bible, with Adam and Eve.
Clive and Harry appear. Clive allows Edward and Joshua to listen as he tells Harry about recent trouble with the natives that has been put under control, but which has made it unsafe for anyone to leave the house. He says that a village has been destroyed and that the army is coming in. Clive and Joshua then go in for breakfast.
Edward asks Harry why they don't spend time together anymore and asks if he can...
