Chapter 10 Summary
When the Japanese attack on Guadalcanal takes place, it was turned back.
Banning is in New York City, having attended a performance at Radio City Music Hall with Carolyn Spencer Howell. They go to Jack and Charlie's Saloon afterward. He meets Ken McCoy outside and they go in together. They are joined by Ernie Sage, McCoy's date. When the women excuse themselves to use the restroom, Banning and McCoy talk. McCoy will be sent to China to set up a weapons reporting stations, but he doesn't know when.
Carolyn Ward McNamara traveled to San Francisco by train. She didn't have a seat for most of the trip and was tired and dirty when she arrived at the Andrew Foster Hotel, the most elegant hotel in the city. Pick and Dunn introduce themselves in the lobby.
