Summary
Chapter 15. Stars, Hide Your Fires
Tessa has a vivid dream about Will and wakes to find herself in an old cottage she found near the river. Tessa hears a noise and realizes the automatons have found her. Tessa uses her shapeshifting abilities to take on the shape of the old woman who once lived in the cabin. However, Mrs. Black is with the automatons, and she is not tricked by Tessa’s disguise. At the same time, Will wakes from where he fell from his horse on the roadside. Will buries a dagger that once belonged to Jem in a show of grief before continuing his journey to find Tessa.
At the Institute, Charlotte has used a letter Will sent her about finding Tessa’s pendant to try again to get support from the Consul, but again it fails. Then Charlotte receives a...
