Summary

The final section includes five chapters and starts with “Without A Warning” (133). The cops take down their information. Clayton tries to tell the cops this was his first warning, but the cops notice he has a bag with no school books so they decide take him in too. The cops pat him down and confiscate his blues harp. Clayton starts crying and the boys tease him. The cops arrest them, put handcuffs on them, and put them in the van. When they get to the station the cop tells Clayton, “You better pray your guardian angel shows up before nine,” otherwise they will be sent to a detention center (138). The boys talk about their family life, and Clayton hears a cop on the phone say, “Ms. Juanita Byrd? Yes we have your son” (140).
