Summary

The next section includes six chapters and starts with the chapter “Six Rings” (103). Albert Miller, Clayton’s father, always called his mother during her dinnertime at work, and she would let it ring six times. Finally a coworker answers and gives the phone to Ms. Byrd. As usual Mr. Miller offers to take them to an event - a baseball game or something else. And as always, Ms. Byrd tells him no they cannot do it, and “I have everything under control. Clayton’s fine” (105).

The next chapter is “Chasing the Beats” (106). Clayton steps onto the subway platform to find the Beats in the crowd.
