Camino Rios

Camino Rios is the daughter of Papi and Mami, the niece of Tia Solano, the best friend of Carline, and the half-sister of Yahaira, as the reader will learn throughout the novel. The novel begins from her perspective in the Dominican Republic, and half of it is told from her perspective. Camino represents the character of Miranda from The Tempest, as the daughter on the island of Prospero/Papi. Camino lives with Tia in Sosua, in the Dominican Republic, a few miles from the airport, and around the corner from her favorite beach. Camino is the daughter of Papi’s second wife, and is also 16 like Yahaira, but was born a few months before Yahaira on July 29th. Camino attends a private high school, which is a result of her father’s money.
