Summary
This section continues from Yahaira’s perspective as Mami pulls the car up to the beach as Yahaira runs out. She hears a moan and sees Camino on the ground thrashing against a man kneeling above her. Yahaira rushes El Cero and shoves him to the ground. Camino clings to Yahaira and Yahaira sees her sister’s blouse is ripped open. The man tells Yahaira, “You’ve been her sister for what, two days? You're going to want to mind your business” (385). Yahaira balls her fists as El Cero begins to charge her, but headlights flood the darkness.
