Summary
Page 340 continues Yahaira’s perspective, titled “Fifty-Two Days After (340). She is waiting for her mother, while trying to get to know Tia and Camino. Tia suggests they go to Camino’s beach but Camino tells Yahaira the beach is not safe, there is a man who hangs out there and would not be very nice for either of them. Yahaira says she knows what she means, there are bad men in New York City and Camino scoffs and says she knows nothing. Page 343 changes to Camio’s perspective as it changes to three line stanzas. She says Yahaira could not know anyone like El Cero, or what it feels like to have to abandon your dreams. Page 345 changes to Yahaira as Mami pulls up to the house.
