Summary
This section starts from Camino’s perspective as she listens to Tia whisper angrily over the phone. After she finishes her call they sit on the porch and rock, and Camino knows it is something serious. Page 194 is five three line stanzas, with “Tia says,” above each paragraph on the left, with the paragraph indented (194). Tia explains to Camino that the airline offered half a million dollars to be split among dependents, and she was talking to Tio Jorge on the phone. She explains how there is a girl in New York City who was born two months after her, with her same father. Tia explains how her father married another woman in New York City before he married Camino’s mother, and Camino can apply for money as a dependent, but the other woman might fight her.
