Summary

Chapter 16, The Terrors of the Earth – Emma and Julian look out over Alicante at night, saddened for what they have lost. Julian worries about being able to take care of his younger siblings. Emma says everything will work out, and that Julian’s Uncle Arthur might be able to help. They then overhear Jia and Patrick irate because Clary, Jace, Alec, and Isabelle are gone. Maia, Maureen, and their respective groups meet at Toys R Us after hours on 42nd Street. Maureen thinks an alliance between them will be good because they can then join Sebastian’s coming invasion of Idris. Maia agrees, and has Maureen drink blood from her wrist to seal the alliance. Maureen immediately dies.
