Summary

Isabelle is at home with Alec, Aline, Sebastian, and Max. The older children are discussing their parents, wondering why they have not come home yet. Max comes into the room and tells everyone that he has seen someone climbing the Demon Towers. No one believes him. A few minutes later, however, the front window breaks, and Aline is pulled out. Isabelle goes after her and manages to save her from a demon. After the demon is dead, Aline runs away. Isabelle realizes the town is overrun with demons and that the Demon Towers, which have protected the city for thousands of years, are down.

Simon wakes in his prison cell to the sound of the Clave abandoning the Gard. However, they leave the prisoners in their cells.
