Chapters 5 through 7 Summary

In chapter five, Jace arrives in the Silent City and is put in a cell. He realizes the anxiety he's feeling isn't typical for him but doesn't know why he feels that way. Just then one of the Silent Brothers, a monk named Jeremiah, staggers into the room. He's obviously terrified and falls down, dead. A huge "something" pushes through the door and a cloud rushes past him before his torch goes out.

Clary and Simon kiss for a while and then Clary goes to put on her pajamas. Simon falls asleep and Clary gets a text from Isabelle. As soon as she reads it, she leaves the house.

Jace wakes to Valentine's voice. Valentine says he isn't going to kill Jace but that he'd come to take the sword, Maellartach. The sword is the one the angel used to chase...
