Chapters 3 and 4 Summary

In chapter three, Clary arrives at the Institute where Jace and the other shadowhunters live. She recalls seeing it for the first time when the glamour had hidden the true appearance of the building. She now arrives with Jace but he doesn't have a key because Maryse took it. By using a blessing, he gains entrance to the building anyway, a method Luke says will work as long as Jace doesn't mean any harm to the inhabitants. When they enter the building, a cat named Church is waiting to lead them to Maryse. She is talking with a vampire named Raphael. Maryse doesn't initially recognize Luke but then calls him by the name he used when he was a shadowhunter, Lucian Graymark. He tells her he's now known as Luke Garroway.
