Chapters 34-39 Summary

Anita and Larry make it to the Circus of the Damned just before dawn. The Circus is closed down for the night and all is quiet. Anita warns Larry about what could happen inside. Irving answers the door and leads Anita and Larry downstairs to Jean-Claude.

Anita draws her gun but Irving assures her that it is not necessary. Richard joins the group and they go to Jean-Claude, who is nervously waiting. Just before the group walks through the door, Anita says she does not want Larry to meet the Master of the City. Richard and Irving agree that it would be best. Larry argues but Anita wins this round.

Chapter 35 begins with Anita seeing Jean-Claude. Anita says that she will go see the Master of the City alone, that she does not want her new co-worker to meet the Master...
