Badagry

Badagry is a town a few miles west of Lagos. It is the cherished refuge of Duyole Pitan-Payen, who celebrates his ambassadorship with a public feast there. The town is contrasted with the corruption and entropy of Lagos, despite being so near the megalopolis. Badagry is noted as a historic slave port, one of the last continental transit points for African slaves shipped across the Atlantic.

Gumchi

Gumchi is a fictional village located somewhere in the north of Nigeria, in Zamfara State. It is the hometown of Dr. Kighare Menka, whose life aspiration is to open a clinic there. Gumchi represents fidelity to one’s values and purity of aspiration for Menka and for his blood brother, Duyole Pitan-Payne. Inversely, it represents the quest for earthly dominance pursued by Farodion, who wishes to situate a spiritual pilgrimage site there.
