Summary
Aubrey placed Christopher far away from the window. He fed him left-over turtle food and only added water when his dish was empty. He rarely cleaned Christopher’s cage and never played with him. With no activities to enjoy, Christopher started thinking up poems. He wrote one that he titled “Oh, Sad is the Mouse!”
Freddy called to check on Christopher, but Aubrey lied and told him he died. He also told him he had given him two nuts per day and that he followed all of his care directions. He assured Freddy that Christopher died peacefully and that he buried him under a cherry tree. Freddy asked why he didn’t call him for the burial because Aubrey told him that he did not want to upset him. After hanging up, Aubrey went to Christopher cage and laughed...
