Summary
In Chapter Thirty-Six, Sloane woke up as Mox pulled into a motel. His magic was uncontrollable and explosive, just as it had always been when he was a child. Having spent the last decade on the run, he was extremely anxious. Sloane helped calm him down by touching his injured back, which Edda had hit with a steel pole. She saw that he had a spine siphon attached. They were very rare and allowed Nero, who installed the siphon, control of Mox when he was near. Nero had tricked Mox into agreeing to having the siphon installed when he was just a kid. Sloane realized she had misjudged Mox, who was not responsible for the Drains, which seemed to spontaneously occur whenever Aelia and Nero brought Chosen Ones from other dimensions.
