After listening all night to Idaho's mentat arguments about Alia's machinations, Stilgar is not convinced and refuses to compromise his neutrality. If Idaho is sure about Alia's infidelity, he may kill Javid in the desert - but not escape - and he may not send a message to Jessica. Only the Trial of Possession can settle the question of Alia's condition, and first they must investigate extenuating circumstances. The rest this question and Stilgar refuses to say any more about Ghanima than that no one can harm her. Idaho feels this is naïve.
