Summary
It becomes even clearer to the protagonist that Pawlowsky and Elminides have romantic feelings for each other. The protagonist and Edward consider the idea of encouraging Pawlowsky and Elminides towards a romantic relationship with each other. Meanwhile, the protagonist begins to grow somewhat weary of some of the harsh sights he sees in the city. He converses with a police officer who is weary of the terrible things he witnesses in his line of work. One day, the Armenian librettist finishes a piece, has it performed, and the performance receives excellent reviews. The performance gains much critical and commercial success.
In Chapter 20, the protagonist continues to ride the bus downtown and listen to the lengthy pronouncements and anecdotes spoken by the driver, Donald Morris. He also continues his pastime of exploring the many buildings and locales of the city. He also enjoys climbing trees...
