Summary
In Chapter 21, the memory of her kiss with Nolan distracts Mallory as they study Koch’s games with Tanu and Emil. Mallory is pleasantly surprised by the physical affection Nolan shows her in front of the others. She feels offended when he announces he is going to bed and does not invite her to join him. When she confronts him about it, he retorts that usually, she is the one to ignore her romantic partners. Mallory spots the tic-tac-toe sheet from Toronto on his nightstand and asks how come he kept it. Nolan explains that it makes him think of her. They have sex and fall asleep.
Nolan wakes to a call from his manager, Elle, requesting his and Mallory’s participation in a charity tournament in Chapter 22. Mallory asks for time to consider. As they practice, Mallory asks Nolan about his family...
