Chapters Eighteen and Nineteen Summary
In Chapter Eighteen, Petra and Calder discuss the goodness or lack thereof of the thief on their walk to school. They are shocked to see Mrs. Sharpe on a stretcher outside her home. She had broken her leg. She then gave the kids a letter to mail for her, a letter addressed to Ms. Hussey. They almost decided to open it and read it, but it was dropped on the ground and stepped on by a man with a foreign accent. He picks it up and quickly mails it.
