Chapters 31 - 32 Summary

Charlie comes in with the first offer from Goddard who will give them twenty million over four years, but wants twelve points and to be chairman of the board. Henry tells him to go back and give Goddard the chairman's position which was mostly ceremonial, and to secure at least eighteen million over three years but without points. Henry will not give on that issue. When Charlie leaves, Henry goes back to contemplating his situation. He makes a list of key elements of his conversation with Langwiser. He realizes that his car may not have been searched by the police. On impulse, he goes down to the garage and searches the car himself. There seems to be nothing out of the ordinary. All that is left is his back pack which he takes upstairs. He searches it and finds a key...
