Pineville, New Jersey

Pineville, New Jersey is Jessica's hometown. Pineville is not a really small town, but it's small enough that the majority of the residents know each other. Not much changes in the town. It has relatively remained the same since Jessica was a child. It is a suburban town and the primary setting for portions of the novel.

Columbia

Columbia is the college that Jessica attends. It is in New York City and is a top American university. Jessica attending Columbia is a bone of contention between Jessica and her parents. Jessica had a full scholarship to Piedmont University, so when she decided to attend Columbia, her parents said she would have to pay the majority of her way through. Columbia is where Jessica meets many new people, such as William, Jane, Dexy and Kieran.
