Part 2, Diving for Dreams: Chapters 5-10 Summary
Tess Carroll is a local girl who is preparing to sail around the world. Tess wants to be one of only ten women who have successfully sailed around the world alone. Tess is set to leave the following Friday. Today, with the help of employee and friend, Tink Wetherbee, Tess places a new sail that her company, Carroll Sails, has made special for the race. When the sail is in place, Tess says goodbye to both Tink and her mother, Grace Carroll, heads off on a test run. Tink has outlined a course for Tess that avoids an incoming storm, but Tess decides the best way to test the new sail and the boat, as well as her solo skills, is to navigate directly into the storm.
