Summary
Chapter 6 briefly describes the whirlwind of Wonka candy bar purchases made around the world as all children hope to be one of the five lucky winners of a Golden Ticket. By the time it is the day before Charlie’s birthday, two Golden Tickets have already been found. One is found by a portly boy named Augustus Gloop, whose mother gushes to the press about just how many candy bars her son eats a day, stating that she simply knew he would get one. The second Golden Ticket is found by a girl from a very rich family named Veruca Salt, whose tantrums and spoiled behaviour led her father to purchase hundreds of bars until the ticket was found.
