Martha’s Vineyard
Much of the novel takes place on the island of Martha’s Vineyard, which is located off the coast of Massachusetts. Martha’s Vineyard is known for having a generally wealthy populace. Lincoln owns a house on the island, which he inherited form his mother. In 1971, Lincoln, Teddy, Mickey, and Jacy vacationed on the island. At the end of the vacation, Jacy mysteriously disappeared. In 2015, Lincoln, Teddy, and Mickey meet on the island again, and Lincoln decides to attempt a new investigation into Jacy’s disappearance.
Chilmark House
Lincoln owns a house in the town of Chilmark, which is located on Martha’s Vineyard. Lincoln inherited the house from his mother, who inherited it from her family. Lincoln resides in Las Vegas, and he makes money from the house by renting it to other people. A local misanthrope named Mason Troyer lives in the neighboring house...
