Summary
In Chapter 7, Lincoln recalls Jacy’s 1971 disappearance. Jacy had supposedly left the island on the day she had planned to leave. Her wedding was scheduled to take place in the near future. However, it soon became apparent that Jacy had disappeared. None of her friends or family knew her whereabouts. Police searched Martha’s Vineyard, but no one found Jacy. Police interviewed Lincoln, Teddy, and Mickey, but none of them were ever suspects. Also, there was technically no evidence that Jacy had been murdered, as she had vanished completely. Lincoln suddenly has an urge to investigate the disappearance, so he goes to Chilmark’s local newspaper. The editor, a woman named Beverly, allows Lincoln to look through the newspaper’s archives. Lincoln finds nothing new or useful. Lincoln entertains the theory that Mason Troyer may have killed Jacy.
