Summary

Chapter 19: “Thine Own Palace” opens with Thomas and Alastair reconciling after months of animosity. Alastair admits to following Thomas around on patrol to keep him safe, and Thomas asks Alastair if he, like Thomas, likes men. The perspective shifts to that of Cordelia, then, as she wraps Matthew’s cut hand – the product of his altercation with James at the Shadow Market. They join the group to visit Magnus Bane at a tent nearby, the powerful warlock whom they all trust. They explain the killings to Magnus and show him the sharp object from the murder scene, which is a ‘pithos,’ a type of container of magic. He reveals that the pithos turns into a stele, and also hypothesizes that the killer used it to wield Shadowhunter powers. The group agrees the killer is likely Belial...
