Summary

In Chapter 23, the narrative briefly exposits upon Celine’s facility with firearms. Celine and Pete arrive back in Cooke City to continue their investigation. They visit a bar that Paul had frequented, and they speak to a female bartender, with whom Paul apparently had had a sexual relationship. The bartender says that Paul sometimes spoke about a lake up in Montana that he wanted to see. In Chapter 24, the narrative further exposits upon Celine’s childhood. After her parents separated, her father visited only very occasionally. One day, he took Celine to a restaurant in the city, and they were approached by a woman whom Harry had begun dating. Harry and Celine found the experience mortifying. Back in Yellowstone, Celine and Pete research a Chilean artist with whom Paul had spent some time while in Chile.
