Book 6 Summary
Patrick Burke walks out of the front doors of the Cathedral, looking at the damages and destruction. The Cardinal, leading a procession of clergy, was circling the Church. He is performing a cleansing ritual for the defiled Cathedral. Inside, he orders various people to assist the police. He says they will say mass when the police have finished and the cleansing ritual is concluded.
Bert Schroeder enters the Cathedral with two police officers. He is escorted to the news reporters where Mayor Kline answers most of the questions following the stories they had formulated before the onset of the assault. The Mayor makes Schroeder and Bellini into the heroes of the operation. Schroeder, not feeling well, breaks away from the crowd and runs out of the Cathedral.
