Part 3, Chapter 8, Photoelectrons Summary

News media and ambulances arrive to take Mikey away. Sara, Travis, Mitch, Tobey, and Kate stay in what would have been Mikey's bedroom. They are horrified, but Mitch is angry, declaring someone is always responsible and that there should be a massive lawsuit. Mitch leaves when Kate and the others begin painting the walls with shapes and fingerprints and splatters.

Late that night, Reverend Jack and Teri return home. Kate and her father sit up in the kitchen. Mrs. Litch will continue staying with Betty; Teri will continue staying with Kate. Later, Teri heads out to her house, and Kate follows. There, Teri sits in Mikey's bedroom, and Kate sits beside her and lines up all of Mikey's toys, Kate and Teri sit back-to-back under a blanket, and hold hands.
