Part 2, Chapter 3, Galvanize Summary
Kate's father arrives at school with a letter from MIT admissions. Kate opens the letter to discover her application has been rejected. Kate cries, and she and her father embrace, and her father consoles her by telling her she has other options. He then has to leave to head to the guidance office because of Teri's fight the previous day.
Kate believes she is a failure. She has applied to no safety schools, and the realization is tearing her up. She attempts to go to the guidance counseling office, but the office is packed with kids with college questions, so Kate heads out. The track team is in the weight room for conditioning, and Coach Reid allows Kate to run on the treadmill. She almost passes out.
