Summary
Chapter 9 is titled “Daddy Forgets.” Poppy is now in bed. Flippy hugs her and says he is sorry for his earlier words. He says her comic book about the two birds was beautiful. Poppy asks for a drink of water, and they go to the kitchen together. Flippy helps Poppy sit on the counter. He says her story made him realize “I don't want to be like the bird who always looked down” (142). Poppy says he is not like that. Flippy says he seems to be always yelling, lecturing, and finding fault. Poppy says the frogs are “pretty bad sometimes.” While Flippy agrees, he says they are also “little kids.” He says they are usually very good with big hearts. They look out the window toward the sky.
