Summary

Chapter 1 is titled “Ideas.” Molly welcomes everyone to the “first meeting of … the Cat Kid Comic Club” (6). There are 21 frogs seated at logs, as if they are at desks in a classroom, and they shout “Hooray.” Molly introduces Lil' Petey as the president and herself as the the vice-president. Molly says she gets to be president because “I called it first” (7). The scene erupts into chaos with others demanding to be vice-president and making up titles, such as “the universal CEO of global vice-management times infinity” (9). A frog named Starless “fires” another frog during the argument, and one of them calls on their dad, a fish named Flippy. Flippy says he will send Lil' Petey home if they cannot get along.
