Part Two: Monster Hunt, Chapters 28-33 Summary
Soneji has taken a room in the Plaza Hotel in New York to fulfill a childhood dream. Soneji lays on the bed thinking about his heroes, killers who made themselves famous with their crimes. Soneji knows that he should not be at the Plaza since Cross is more than likely in town looking for him, but figures he has little to lose by playing out his fantasies. However, Cross is back home having dinner with his children. Cross gets to looking at the cat the family adopted a while ago and remembers a phone call Soneji made warning him that he had left a package at the Cross home. Since the cat was found abandoned on the Cross doorstep, Cross begins to wonder if Soneji did something to the cat that might hurt...
