Compare and contrast Lucy's and Gerald's reasons for embarking on the Tuin expedition. In what ways do they, if at all, have similar motives, and what are any major differences between them?
While the personalities, ages and backgrounds are significantly different, both Lucy and G share an important characteristic that set their individual trajectories in motion to eventually find each other for the purpose of the Tuin expedition. Lucy and G possess fiercely independent and adventurous spirits, coupled with a restlessness that keeps them both seeking challenging new experiences and living life to the fullest on their own terms.
