Summary

At the outset of Cassandra in Reverse, Cassandra Dankworth is fired from her job and dumped by her boyfriend, Will. Her boss, Barry, tells her she does not have the social etiquette for a public relations job while Will lists her attributes before averring that he does not see a future with her. At the office, Cassandra packs her desk into a box and walks to the lift with a desk plant. As she waits, her colleague Ron approaches and asks for his plant back. When Cassandra walks onto the street, in Chapter 2, she is overstimulated and panicked. She heads to the café to get a banana muffin to soothe herself, but they are out, and her anxiety heightens.
