Summary

In Chapter 1, Akos Kereseth, his brother (Eijeh), sister (Cisi), mother (Sifa), and father (Aoseh) were dressed in warm clothes to face the frigid weather in their nation of Thuvhe. They were going to the annual celebration of the blooming of the hushflower at the temple. Akos felt the hum of the current from their planet in his body. This current flowed through everything and appeared in the sky in various colors.

As they rode in their floater toward the temple Akos’ father asked his mother, who was the nation’s oracle, if she had seen anything interesting that day. Since she was an oracle, Akos knew that the current gave information about the future to his mother.
