Part 3 Summary
The report of death for Carrie White states the cause of death possible, hemorrhage, shock, coronary occlusion and/or coronary thrombosis. The death toll in Chamberlain was 409, with forty-nine people still missing. So many people were killed and families destroyed by the events that happened on prom night that the town has never fully recovered. Much of the town has rebuilt, but people aren't the same and the town's main business has been funerals, with new bodies being found on a constant basis with the clean up of the town. The principal Henry Grayle submits his resignation because he feels he might could have done something to stop the events on that night. Likewise, Miss Desjardin submits her resignation, stating she can never teach again wondering if she could have reached out to Carrie and made a difference.
