Summary

The chapter begins with a scene of a farmer who was checking on his cows in the field and noticed that one of them was lying down and grazing, which was highly abnormal. The farmer tried to get the animal to stand up using all the practices he knew, but soon realized that the legs of the animal were broken and deteriorating.

Next, the reader was back at the Visby Plant with Bob Whittaker. The narrator, who was not Maggie, described the many household and not so household items that aluminum was found in. Aluminum was made by mixing it with other substances and; then, heated to a liquid which from there gets poured into various molds for various products.
