Heroism
Through the characterization and action of the fictional characters of Strike, Robin, Shanker, and Alyssa, the author shows the characteristics one needs in order to be a hero. Each of these fictional characters demonstrates that they are courageous, passionate, patient, confident, supportive, and are overall honest people. Strike’s and Robin’s profession demonstrates their courage as it takes them into unsafe areas of London and causes them to interact with undesirable people. Both of them face the threat that comes with the delivery of the leg instead of running away from it. Robin goes to save Alyssa’s children from Brockbank even though she knows that Brockbank is dangerous.
