Chapter 15 Summary
M. Poirot is on the case and he manages to arrange a meeting on a double-decker bus with Major Despard. Poirot makes it appear as if the meeting has happened by chance. Because he knows Major Despard to be a very astute man, Poirot needs to take him off guard. By seeming to take the same bus, Poirot is able to catch Despard unaware. The detective asks the same questions he has asked of the other suspects. Despard recalls details only of the rugs Mr. Shaitana had as well as one or two of his knickknacks. He remembers very little about the card game. What Poirot is able to get out of the military man is his intense disdain for Shaitana.
