Summary

In Chapter 27, Julian believes they are on the wrong track and Scarlett feels that something is amiss. Aiko arrives and says they should stay out of the hat shop. Scarlett is torn, but truly believes she will find an answer inside. The man in the shop is handsome and has an eye patch. He kisses Scarlett's hand and Julian interrupts, but the man says Scarlett is his fiance.

In Chapter 28, the man introduces himself as Count Nicolas d'Arcy. Scarlett senses he is nothing like his letters. Her father enters.
