Summary
In Chapter 13, Scarlett realizes she is already struggling to keep track of what is real and to remember that her father is not present to punish her for her actions. She still plans to remain only one night, and feels she will later regret it if she does not make the most of that time. The next morning, her dress morphs back into a beautiful gown. She passes Tella's room and senses “the ever-present pull of her sister,” prompting Scarlett to knock (Location 1358). The door opens with the pressure of her knock and the room is in disarray. Other people arrive, all with the key indicating they will find the next clue in Tella's room. They begin to grab up Tella's possessions. Scarlett grabs what she can and a young woman offers to hold the items. Scarlett finally trusts...
