Chapter 8 Summary

It has been eight months since his wife left Captain Pantoja and the task of awakening her son has fallen to Mother Leonor. Pantoja leaves Loreto for Huallaga. He is going to pay a visit to visit his old friend, Captain Alberto Mendoza. He and Mendoza attended the Chorrillos Military Academy together. Captain Pantoja continues his affair with the Brazilian.
