Summary
In "Cousin Sidney," Israel created a cousin named Sidney Brozen whom she decided she would tell the buyer had died and left her his collection of signed letters. The lady who bought the letters did not seem interested in Israel’s story but offered her $40 each for the letters.
Israel bought a Royal typewriter that had a typeface similar to the one in Brice’s letters. Israel stole more letters from the library and gave them better content by adding postscripts to the bottoms of the letters. The dealer had told Israel she would get better money for better content. Israel notes that she tracked down one of these original letters to which she had added a postscript. The seller indicated that the letter would come with a certificate of authenticity. It could be purchased for $595.
