David Sedaris
David Sedaris is the author, narrator, and main character of Calypso. He is a successful writer now in middle-age who splits his time between his home in Sussex and the many trips he takes for book and speaking tours. Born into a family of six children, David identifies with being part of a big family and he struggles to redefine that identity after the death of his youngest sister Tiffany. David describes himself as a somewhat difficult child who was often getting into trouble. He has always had a strong connection to his family, in particular to his sisters Gretchen, Amy, and Lisa, and to his mother.
