Chapter 15 & Chapter 16 Summary

As they continue along the seemingly unending tunnel in Chapter 15, Rebecca fears they have been misled and sent into a trap, but just as David suggests they should turn around, a "clank!" is accompanied by a terrible moaning sound. David, Rebecca and John run down the tunnel, but realizing they will be overtaken, they turn and fire at David's instructions, taking down two clawed monsters. Nothing else moves, but there are at least two more monsters around the corner that seem to be waiting. They edge backward slowly, still aiming in the creatures' direction. When Dr. Kinneson brings Steve and Karen to Dr. Griffith, Griffith decides Steve will replace Athens, and as soon as he orders Thurman to grab Karen before she can damage Steve, Karen attacks Thurman.
