Summary

In Chapter 8, Eric’s mother took him and his younger brother, Rudy, shopping on Saturday. On their way out of the supermarket, they ran into Griffin. Griffin claimed he was there helping elderly shoppers load groceries into their cars. Eric’s mother was charmed. Griffin invited Eric to stay with him. Eric started to say he had things to do, but his mother encouraged him to stay.

In Chapter 9, Eric complimented Griffin on the performance he gave Eric’s mother. Eric noticed Griffin ignored several customers who looked like they needed help before he chose a woman to whom he did offer assistance. Eric was surprised that Griffin helped four different customers and that he refused payment.

Between customers, Eric asked Griffin about Cody, whom he described as the one who looked like a weasel. Griffin gave Eric a cold look and warned...
