Summary
In Chapter 37, Autumn walks the hospital corridors, counting tiles until she is settled. She is surprised when she encounters Dax, who took the bus just in case Autumn needed his calming presence. Dallin interrupts their hug and Autumn tries to cover it with a lie, saying Dax volunteers at the hospital. Dallin keeps walking. Autumn gives Dax a ride home and she stops off at the school parking lot to give him a driving lesson. Dax talks about himself, saying that his father left when he was four and his mother turned to drugs after her mother died. They talk about other things as well and Autumn realizes she is happy around Dax. She says she turns to happy memories when she is most stressed, and that Dax has added to those.
